Anti-Spiral is a recent YouTube comment trend. The trend involves people going on community posts and commenting "Anti-Spiral" without context. Reddit, Tik Tok and YouTube has picked up on the situation, and even YouTubers such as BENBROS and Lessons in Meme Culture have made videos talking about the trend.

Who is Anti-Spiral?[]

Anti-Spiral is a villain from an anime series known as Gurren Lagann. It is stated to be one of the most powerful characters in all of anime, and some even claim it can beat Saitama, an equally strong anime character.

Appearance[]

Anti-Spiral has a massive frame, with a white outline, a black body, white eyes and mouth, and two realistic hands.

How did we get here?[]

Notably starting in 2022, powerscaling edits centered on Gurren Lagann character Anti-Spiral began appearing on YouTube. For instance, on June 19th, 2022, YouTuber[1] Antispiral2.0 shared a Short that powerscaled Anti-Spiral against Cosmic Garou from One-Punch Man, gaining over 100,200 views in two years.

YouTuber Antispiral2.0 would later make edits powerscaling Anti-Spiral to Saitama from One-Punch Man and Goku from Dragon Ball, among others. Other YouTubers[4] also shared Saitama vs. Anti-Spiral edits in 2024.

Anti-Spiral powerscaling edits also surfaced on TikTok in 2022 and 2023.

The perception that Anti-Spiral was all-powerful, as portrayed in the aforementioned edits, largely inspired the "Anti-Spiral" comment trend that started on YouTube in late 2024. Currently, the earliest known example spawned from a community post shared by YouTuber BDClashers on December 8th.
