Chicken Jockey is a scene from the 2025 video game film, A Minecraft Movie. The scene in question involves Garrett being forced to fight a baby zombie riding a chicken, known as a chicken jockey, after which Steve yells "chicken jockey" in a Peter Griffin-esque voice. After initially knocking the zombie off the chicken, it begins to cry. Garrett tries to comfort it, but it was just a ruse and it bites his arm. Eventually, Steve unties the ropes wrapped around his hands and finishes off the baby zombie by headbutting him out of the arena. This causes the baby zombie to pitifully and genuinely cry in defeat as the two stand victorious.
Movie Theater Incidents[]
Following wild cinema scenes all over the world, resulting in high police and security presence to prevent any kind of commotion at screenings of A Minecraft Movie, a South Australian cinema has taken the opposite approach, hosting a special Chicken Jockey screening of the film for viewers to go wild.
The incidents in question involved people screaming "Chicken Jockey," throwing popcorn, soda, and other drinks all over the screen, the theater, and each other, piggy-back riding, trampling, and even engaging in vandalism. In one incident, someone had brought a live chicken inside the theater, and held it up during said scene.[1]
In another, a movie theater employee had a so-called "crash-out" which saw her threatening to call the cops. However, she was going to the call the cops on herself, after she was done "beating their asses."[2]
Following these incidents, movie theaters would start warning people against overreacting to the chicken jockey scene. One of the many warnings was posted to the r/FellowKids subreddit, gaining over 22,000 upvotes and 400 comments.[3]
