Despacito Spider is a character in the popular online game platform Roblox, mostly seen in the video game Robloxian Highschool. It is named after the popular song "Despacito", sung by Puerto Rican singers Daddy Yankee and Luis Fonsi. It is depicted as a threatening type of Roblox spider due to its cursed communicative nature.

The "Despacito Spider" is a creation known in Roblox as the "Bighead Pill" with spider legs attached. The earliest known post to show the character with "Despacito" appeared December 31st, 2017 on Imgur.
Web usage[]
Over the following few months, the character began spreading in Roblox. On January 21st, 2018, a Twitter user drew the OG Despacito Spider image. On February 27th, it appeared in r/RobloxMemes, where it gained 69 points. The following day, the spider was submitted to r/cursedimages, where it gained 57 points. On March 24th, Roblox player Stratus Studios posted art of the character making it look more threatening.
The character became popular on the Roblox shitposting subreddit /r/GoCommitDie, where several edits of the character gained thousands of points. For example, a post by Tornado873 on June 29th gained over 1,700 points. Another by user Zenith386 posted July 4th also gained over 1,700 points.
On August 1, 2018, The Urban Dictionary added the word by kaii85. The name and definition was updated by Verdicule later on December 27, 2018.

On September 7, 2018, the creators of Robloxian Highschool appeared to acknowledge the popularity of the character when they made the spider the logo of Robloxian Highschool.
