The phrase hoenn confimed was notable in 4chan's /vp/ (Pokemon board) in July 2012, Lots of people where saying there was going to be a hoenn remake, They predicted when there's going to be a hoenn remake, Some people where annoyed about the theories and predictions and began to counter what's know today the hoenn confimed jokes, Since that time, It has spread to media, Such as Tumblr, Facebook, Reddit and even Youtube.
The phrase went wild when Pokemon X and Y was released in October 2013, There where several hints and easter eggs that there was going to be a hoenn remake (Even NPCS mentioning their homeland was hoenn) was scattered all over the game.
The phrase began to momentum even further when Junichi Masuda, The composer and the director of the Pokemon games responded to a fan requesting a hoenn remake and was quoted what was really hard to translate “Thanks! I’ve received your sentiments. Ruby and Sapphire are very important games to me. I want to make something good. Thanks!!"
