I ate a cat is a comment meme on YouTube in which a YouTube user Bill S jokingly makes an off-topic comment on an unknown video saying "I ate a cat." Another user named Kenneth replies saying they want to cry, although also claiming they respect their opinion. Bill S then doubles down by saying they’ll eat another. This comment became popular and is used on internet as a humorous or parody way of eating a living thing.

The origin of the meme is unknown, as it was not known where the comment originated from and the whereabouts of this video are now considered lost to time. Based on the search results and the source account of the comment by YouTube comment search websites, the earliest traceable of this comment dates to January 28, 2019 at the time of 8:12:55 AM (UTC), in which a user Austin, known in username as @Austin-pq6lr, says the same comment as "I ate a cat" on a video shorts titled BrittNasco by Bill S, uploaded earlier on November 26, 2014. As of 2025, the comment was highlighted and reached 1,038 likes and 100 replies. There is a first Reddit post that dates on the same date above. If the date shown at that time as "7 months ago" is true, then this makes the comment originally posted around June 2018. It was known on the internet then that a random user named Bill S, known now by the username as @bills4772, commented on an unknown video as "I ate a cat". The reply, only known as Kenneth, replies as wanting to cry and considers the comment in opinion as cruel, albeit also respecting as an opinion. However, the another reply states that the same commented user will eat another, this time with unspecified name. Around eight months, this comment became popular and was later used in internet as a parody.

Since the popularity of this comment, the comment became subject of parodies on the internet as eating something as a living thing.
The first Reddit post was posted on a subreddit r/youngpeopleyoutube, titled “I will eat another”, by user Blabbo12 on January 28, 2019.[1] However it was unpopular as it only gained 116 upvotes and 58 comments. It was then later posted on r/comedyheaven, titled i ate a cat, on February 26, 2019 by user King_of_skulls.[2] This post became popular, reaching in more than 18,000 upvotes and 186 comments. Later, the original post was reposted as Bill ate a cat on r/shitposting, gaining greater popularity with more than 32,000 upvotes and 409 comments.[3]
