Teh Meme Wiki

Description[]

MEMZ is a 2016 user-made trojan for Microsoft Windows, known for containing various memes and as humorous purpose to replicate the effects of early computer viruses. It was created by Leurak for YouTuber danooct1, known personally as Daniel White, for his Viewer-Made Malware series. It is also available as a batch file rather than executable file. Before the virus does its trojan attack, it sends a warning that a user's computer will be infected after the file is installed.

Software effects[]

The effects of the trojan on computer includes filling the screen with random errors, screen tunneling effect, slow speed, random google.co.ck searches like how 2 buy weed, opening random windows applications like Notepad, error icon loop, slight mouse movement, playing error sounds, error icon spamming, new errors showing when a user tries to close the trojan, reversing text appearances, random screen glitches, bus-like sounds, and MBR overwritten with Nyan Cat and possible corruption of partition table.

Variants[]

VineMEMZ[]

There is another version of MEMZ called VineMEMZ. It is themed after Vinesauce Joel.

Clean MEMZ[]

Clean MEMZ is a test build for MEMZ that does not include the MDR overwrite. But the creator of MEMZ, Leurak still advises you to test on a VM before using on a real machine probably due to possible glitches.

Web usage[]

MEMZ got popular from the actual Viewer Made Malware video, Vinesauce Joel's Windows 10 Destruction video, and scambaiters asking Tech Scammers to somehow fix their VM with MEMZ on it (ETC Leo Takcas, Cybervison).

Trivia[]

  • It is a misspelling of the word "memes" and as based on internet memes.
  • MEMZ isn't as destructive and hard to remove as some think.
  • MEMZ only officially works on Windows XP and higher.
  • The source code for MEMZ can be found on GitHub.[1]
