Since 2020, the image has been actively shared on Twitter and Facebook. It has gained popularity among the Garry's Mod and other resource-based game communities. In October 2020, a 3D model of the cat called "Dingus" was added to Steam. The model became an object that could be carried in the hands. In November 2020, a video called "Half-Life 2: But I Have a Cat" was released, where the cat was held and stroked. A gif of the cat appeared on Twitter, gaining over a million views. The cat began to be placed under different tracks, especially under the Stock Market melody. The Stock Market melody became associated with Max. The cat was confused with another popular TikTok cat, Dingus. It turned out to be a cat named Jess. In 2020, the owner reported that the cat had not eaten for a long time and was diagnosed with intestinal obstruction.
