Description[]
Peter hurts his knee is a running gag on Family Guy and usually originates as a parody of Charlie running for home after discovering the final Golden Ticket in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, complete with an instrumental rendition of I've got a Golden Ticket from the film.
It often occurs when either Peter Griffin or another character hurts their knee or another part of their body, sits where they are, grabs that part of their body, winces, inhales sharply through their teeth, and repeatedly whines "Ah!" an excessive number of times.
Origin[]
On July 25th, 2000, Season 2 Episode 20 of Family Guy titled Wasted Talent was released, in which Griffin is shown running home with a hidden scroll and trips, injuring his knee, causing him to double over in pain and wince for 30 seconds.
Web usage[]
On October 18th, 2009, YouTuber weirdovideoz uploaded a clip of a man imitating the scene followed by a screen capture of Griffin holding his knee (shown below). Within nine years, the video gained over 426,000 views and 600 comments.
On March 4th, 2012, YouTuber WwieWolff posted a parody of the scene featuring an AT-AT from Star Wars. On April 30th, a remix of the scene was uploaded by YouTuber SMNBA25, featuring the audio of Griffin dubbed over a professional basketball game.
On June 24th, 2017, YouTuber ItsEasyBro uploaded a remix dubbed with the song "Fireflies" by Owl City.
On March 4th, 2018, Twitter user @vappywave posted an edited version of the scene with graphics from the game Crash Bandicoot.

On March 5th, 2018, Twitter user @saltykdan uploaded a remix of the scene dubbed with a YouTube review of the Burger King Foot Lettuce meme (shown below). Within 48 hours, the tweet gained over 98,700 likes and 37,400 retweets.

In Wasted Talent, after Peter receives the last silver scroll in a bottle of Pawtucket Patriot Ale, someone tells him to run home as fast as he can. When he finally gets to his house, he trips over himself and hurts his knee.
Peter and the Chumbawumbas[]
In the same episode, after being banned from the tour of the Pawtucket Brewery, Peter asks Pawtucket Pat if he even gets a Chumbawumba song. Pat obliges, but the Chumbawumbas only sing part of the song before kicking Peter in the knee.
Peter as John "Hannibal" Smith[]
In Brian Goes Back to College, in opening credits for the new incarnation of The A-Team, Peter plays John "Hannibal" Smith. In the theme sequence, his Jeep rolls over and he grabs his knee, and begins wincing in pain.
Lois and the Fox News Contract[]
In FOX-y Lady, Lois is now the victim. After signing a contract with Fox News Channel, her boss tells her to run home as fast as she can, but she trips. Unlike Peter's initial trip, she actually grabs hold of her breast.
The Imperial AT-AT Walker[]
In Something, Something, Something, Dark Side, a snowspeeder ropes an Imperial AT-AT Walker by the legs, and the walker falls. After getting up grabs its "knee" and begins wincing in "pain".
Chap of the Manor[]
In Family Guy Viewer Mail No. 2, British Peter "Neville" falls down and grabs his knee, hissing "bugger" through the pain after being chased Benny Hill-style by the London Bobbies for accidentally killing Queen Elizabeth II.
Meg's Flashback[]
Meg has a flashback of the first Peter's knee gag from Wasted Talent in Better Off Meg.
African Condoms[]
In Young Parent Trap, an African villager is charged with taking old army condoms back to his village. He runs through the savannah, but when he gets in front of his hut, he trips and makes a clicking noise in pain.
