Among Us There Is 1 Impostor Among Us refers to a series of memes based on the starting screen which precedes an online round in the 2018 video game Among Us. Following the explosive popularity of the game among streamers, the screen gained popularity online as source material for edits and a snowclone meme.

On October 28, 2018, the multiplayer party video game Among Us, inspired by the party game Mafia, was released.[1] A game round is preceded by a screen that announces that there is one or more impostor among the crewmates (shown below).
Spread[]
In August 2020, the game was popularized by streamers such as Disguised Toast and xQc and went viral in early September 2020. Following the game's surge of popularity, the "There Is 1 Impostor Among Us" screen gained spread as a meme format, with both the caption and the image being humorously altered.
On August 31, Twitter user @Roy1up_ posted the first known viral meme based on the format, Leonardo's "The Last Supper" captioned "Crewmate. There Is 1 Impostor Among Us."[2] The post received over 4,400 retweets and 23,100 likes prior to being deleted. In the comments, YouTuber SrPelo replied with another meme which gained over 830 retweets and 8,000 likes.[3] On September 1, 2020, Redditor LlamaDestroyer reposted the memes as a two-panel image in /r/AmongUs, with the repost gaining over 9,500 uvpotes (shown below).[4]
In early September 2020, multiple viral memes based on the screen were posted by users on Twitter, Facebook and other online platforms. For example, on September 6, Twitter user @leroleroart posted a Pokémon fan art that received over 8,700 retweets and 35,000 likes (shown below, top).[5] On September 7, Twitter user @IAMNOTCHARON posted an edit which featured the British Queen Elizabeth II in seven differently-colored dresses. The meme received over 70 retweets and 550 likes (shown below, bottom).[6]
