This is Fine

This is Fine is a meme created by KC Green in 2014. It is part of his 2008 webcomic Gunshow. The premise of the meme revolves around a yellow anthropomorphic dog who seemed to not mind the fire around him in his house.

Due to this meme being considered as relatable by many, it has become a timeless meme ever since. It has also been adapted to a sequel comic, as well as a short [adult swim] animated video (which is found between advertisements and such) and even unofficially an indie video game where the player controls the dog and has to stop the fire around him.[1] An official video game adaptation in partnership with Numskull Games was announced.[2]

Comic plot[]

Original[]

The webcomic starts with a fire in the house and with the dog sitting on a chair. He claims that the fire around him is "fine". He claims that he is okay with everything happening around him, as he looks at his cup of coffee. As he drinks it, his hat, arm, and lower body, got caught on fire. With his arm being burnt, he thought that things were still okay, but eventually, he melted and died.

Sequel[]

The sequel comic was made as a way to contradict the original comic. The dog was sitting there, then he said "Th-", then clears his throat, and gets in shock with the fire around his home, saying that this is not fine and that everything is on fire. He ran away from the kitchen/dining room to grab a fire extinguisher as soon as possible and claimed that it was his problem for not dealing with the fire sooner. Eventually, once he turned off the fire, everything was burnt and covered in ashes, and the dog sits and cries in the kitchen/dining room in despair.

Trivia[]

  • There are numerous video game adaptations,[3] with the most prominent titled This is Fine: The Game, developed by Andris Gauracs.
